Crisis Diversion Interim Services (CDIS)
Crisis Diversion Interim Services (CDIS), located in our Crisis Solutions Center at 1600 S. Lane St., Seattle, works with people referred by our Crisis Diversion Facility (CDF) who are now experiencing homelessness, or who are at risk of losing their housing.
While the CDF is very short term care for those in or at risk of a behavioral health crisis, CDIS helps clients further stabilize and establish connections with longer-term resources, services and positive supports in the community. They may stay for 14 days.
Services are provided 24 hours a day, seven days a week, to adults (18 and over) residing in King County, who have recently experienced a behavioral health crisis, are willing to accept voluntary services and are able to be in and maintain behavioral control.
Services include: intake assessment, intensive case management, peer services, optional Substance Use Disorder (SUD) screenings and assessments, group therapy, safety planning, psychiatric evaluation, medication monitoring, discharge planning, safety planning, coordination of care with new or existing providers and direct transportation to and from goal-oriented appointments.
CDIS staff is 28 FTE. DESC operates the program through a contract with King County’s Behavioral Health and Recovery Division (BHRD), with funding from MIDD. MIDD, an acronym for Mental Illness and Drug Dependency, is managed and operated by BHRD and funded by a countywide 0.1% sales tax. It was created specifically for behavioral health services, including mental health and substance use disorder programs.
